butIt isn’t often that I blog about anything outside of furniture, crafts, or décor. However, I kind of felt this weighing heavy on my heart as I was getting ready for our anniversary dinner. Those who know me know that I am not one to just gush about my life. I am a pretty private person, maybe a little guarded, and have always been more of a listener and advice giver than one to seek advice. But today on our second anniversary I think back at how we found each other. When I was in grade school for about a year or so I had to wait on my mom to get me from school in the office. I would sit there with the secretary until my Mom picked me up. Fast forward several years… I was never one to date a lot unless someone was forced on me by my friends or such. I had worked 40 hours a week since I was 17 and was really focused on everything else and I enjoyed my group of friends. Getting older though people start to change and friendships change. Insert Kiby… After Kirby and I met we entered that weird stage of what we tech generation kids like to call “talking” aka texting and never seeing each other lol. Until, finally he asked me on a proper date. Now remember I’m pretty shy, hate that awkward dating stage, and really outside of talking had no information about Kirby accept that my best friend Chelsea said he played Santa in their grade school play and I remembered him being one of the guys that wore weird ugly sweaters in high school. Yup, this was the guy I was about to go out with. Talking myself out of something was pretty easy for me but I thought I’d ask one more friend about him. Eating out with my friend Devin I asked if he remembered him. They had graduated together. Devin had nothing bad to say about him. He said he had never been anything but nice to him. Now some may chalk the next part up to coincidence, but I like to think there is a little bit more to it than that. Devin, who had gone to the same grade school as me said that his mom had been the secretary there. Yes the same secretary that I had sat with every day after school. I can still remember my response, “Well she was really sweet so he can’t be that awful.” Did you get chills?! Because sometimes I still do! Now at that point in time this didn’t really mean much more than just knowing who his mom was. Looking back on 2 years of marriage and falling in love it becomes a little bit clearer. I’ve always prayed for a purpose, for the right husband, for the right job. Sometimes God uses our circumstances to show us his plan for us. In this case I like to think that God used my circumstance to put Teresa (Kirby’s Mom) into my life so that one day I’d find the husband I’d prayed for. And maybe I felt like sharing this story today in the chance that someone besides my Mom would read it. Maybe you may feel lost, without purpose, or feel like you will never find “the one.” I’ve been there… gosh I mean we are still there asking what our purpose is. But, know that he has plans for you and sometimes they are so mind blowing that you honestly wonder why he chose you but if you just seek him I promise he will give you peace. One day you may look back to fourth grade like me and realize how long he has been working in your life! Stay Sweet,
Amanda Lauren Today is not only a great day to share some of our big DIY's that happened over the year, but it is also our 2 year anniversary!Photos by Signature Photography It is true what they say about weddings... it really is a whirlwind and you will forget that you even took those pictures. Our day was almost a years worth of planning, it all happened so quick, but we are still talking about how much fun we had. Renovating our home has been kinda the same way minus the cake, boos, and electric slide... Remind me where I was going with this :P Oh yes Renovating a home is a lot of work and planning but it truly is a great feeling to look back on what was and what you have made it.
