Well I couldn't help it... I got my Fall Décor out. Snapping this picture led to more thoughts about how dark this fire place is against those dark logs. Which obviously led me to thinking about white washing. (If you haven't noticed I heart white washing!)

I know, white washing stone?! It's soooo forever. Here was my thought process (I analyze everything).... I'm never going to be able to bring myself to white wash or paint my logs. I think I secretly like the logs looking natural even though on cloudy days I'm indifferent about how dark my rooms are. But I know I can do other things to lighten up my spaces and I have but, none of me really loves the fire place area except that I have a stove and hearth with a mantel to decorate. SO WHITE WASHING IT WAS. I couldn't dislike it any more than I already did, right?

What You Need Water Craft Paint Cheap Paint Brush Plastic Bowl How I Did It For every 2 cups of water I put in about 18 squeezes of white craft paint. I mixed the paint and water Then I just started applying it on the rocks. I did not wipe or dab the rocks that were against the wall. I did however wipe up any puddles or drip marks that dropped on the landing. I let it all dry very well then wipped any stone that may have looked a little streaky or like it had puddled in areas of the rock groves.

Russian Olive Bushes... If you have a fence line or some land you know these can take over fast! This week while mowing I knew I had to take care of this!

I have to admit that I like the look of these bushes when they are tiny and are not heading the warning of TAKEOVER. The color and shape of the leaves are pretty perfect. So, Obviously I had to DIY.  What You Will Need Garden Clippers Russian Olive Clippings Twig Wreath  Fresh Flowers

Getting Started After you have clipped your branches from the bush you will need to gather you twig wreath and keep your clippers handy. Then just start snipping branches off and tucking them behind the twigs.  You will want to keep the clippings small and group them. This will allow them to be held by the twigs and light weight enough where you don't have to use any type of ties for your branches.
